EXIT Publicaciones
Centrada en las artes visuales en general y en la fotografía en particular; trabaja desde el presente de la creación y el pensamiento cultural a través de la revista EXIT, EXIT Publicaciones y Express. EXIT es una revista semestral monográfica sobre fotografía contemporánea y artes visuales; cada número incluye textos teóricos, ensayos y entrevistas de reconocidos expertos, dossiers y portfolios fotográficos. El proyecto editorial se completa con las colecciones: Textos inevitables, que reúne ensayos inéditos que abordan temas fundamentales y poco visibles de la creación contemporánea; EX(it)LIBRIS, en la que se publican títulos inéditos en castellano, así como antologías y ensayos de autores de reconocido prestigio internacional; la Colección 100, formada por libros de arte contemporáneo con 100 artistas de cada disciplina; Max&Rocco Libros, sobre arte y cultura urbana, coeditada con EXIT LA LIBRERÍA (Ciudad de México); y libros mínimos, una nueva colección de libros de formato, extensión y precio mínimos. Además cuenta con una colección de Proyectos de artistas, así como publicaciones fuera de colecciones como el diccionario ELLAS, Mujeres artistas hasta 1900 (1 vol.). En el ámbito digital cuenta con la plataforma cultural EXIT MEDIA, especializada en la creación y difusión de contenidos de actualidad del sector artístico y editorial, la crítica y la cultura visual contemporánea, con más de veinte años de trayectoria. En esta plataforma se integran la revista digital EXPRESS, el podcast DE FOTO y un ARCHIVO con los contenidos indexados por artículos de casi tres décadas que han formado parte de las publicaciones periódicas de EXIT.
Focused on the visual arts in general and photography in particular, it works from the present of creation and cultural thought through the magazine EXIT, EXIT Publicaciones, and Express. EXIT is a biannual monographic magazine on contemporary photography and visual arts; each issue includes theoretical texts, essays and interviews by renowned experts, dossiers, and photographic portfolios. The editorial project is completed with the following collections: «Textos inevitables», which gathers unpublished essays addressing fundamental and often overlooked issues of contemporary creation; «EX(it) LIBRIS», publishing previously untranslated titles in Spanish as well as anthologies and essays by internationally renowned authors; the «Colección 100», comprised of contemporary art books presenting 100 artists from each discipline; «Max & Rocco Libros», focused on art and urban culture, co-edited with EXIT LA LIBRERÍA (Mexico City); and «Libros mínimos», a new series of books with minimal format, length, and price. It also includes a collection of «Artist Projects», as well as publications outside its regular series, such as the dictionary «ELLAS. Mujeres artistas hasta 1900»(vol. 1). In the digital sphere, it features the cultural platform EXIT MEDIA, specialized in the creation and dissemination of current content on the artistic and publishing sectors, criticism, and contemporary visual culture, with more than twenty years of experience. This platform integrates the digital magazine «EXPRESS», the podcast «DE FOTO», and «ARCHIVO» containing nearly three decades of indexed articles from EXIT’s periodical publications.

EXIT nace con la eclosión de una nueva forma de pensar, de hacer y de ver fotografía. En su 25 aniversario, EXIT entra en una nueva etapa y vuelve a sus raíces, buscando ofrecer más contenido, más calidad y más investigación, en dos publicaciones al año.
EXIT 97 echa la mirada hacia atrás, revisando las influencias y nombres clave de la fotografía contemporánea. Aquellos fotógrafos y fotógrafas que, con su obra, generaron una ruptura en el paradigma del arte a nivel internacional: un cambio en la fotografía como lenguaje artístico y en las formas de mirar y representar el mundo.
David Bate, fotógrafo y catedrático de fotografía londinense, abre la revista con un texto fundamental que revisa los últimos sesenta años de la fotografía, enfocándose en estas miradas atípicas que fueron la llave de grandes cambios: Diane Arbus, Bernd y Hilla Becher, Robert Frank, Andreas Gursky, Nan Goldin, Barbara Kruger, Rineke Dijkstra y Wolfgang Tillmans, entre otros.
En esta nueva etapa, reducimos el número de dossieres para poder adentrarnos en el mundo de cada fotógrafo en mayor profundidad y escogemos las miradas de cinco figuras clave que han influido enormemente en la fotografía contemporánea. Desde la exploración identitaria y la performatividad de Cindy Sherman, a las fotografías escenificadas de Jeff Wall y Gregory Crewdson; de la variedad temática y la construcción de tipologías fotográficas de Thomas Ruff, hasta la rigurosidad de Hiroshi Sugimoto, que pone a prueba los límites de la realidad y la ficción.
El número cierra con la sección Portfolio, que, al margen del tema central, muestra el trabajo de fotógrafos emergentes o que están consolidando su carrera en el panorama internacional. En esta ocasión presentamos la obra de Alejandra Carles-Tolrá (España), Francesca Catastini (Italia), Natalia Kepesz (Polonia), Marisol Méndez (Bolivia) y Charlie Tallott (Reino Unido).

«EXIT #97 YEARS LATER»
EXIT was born with the emergence of a new way of thinking, doing and seeing photography. On its 25th anniversary, EXIT enters a new stage and returns to its roots, seeking to offer more content, more quality and more research, in two publications a year.
«EXIT 97» looks back, reviewing the key influences and figures in contemporary photography—those photographers who, through their work, broke artistic paradigms on an international level, transforming photography as an artistic language and redefining how we see and represent the world.
David Bate, a London-based photographer and professor of photography, opens the issue with a fundamental essay that revisits the last sixty years of photography, focusing on unconventional perspectives that sparked major shifts. Among them: Diane Arbus, Bernd and Hilla Becher, Robert Frank, Andreas Gursky, Nan Goldin, Barbara Kruger, Rineke Dijkstra, and Wolfgang Tillmans, among others.
In this new phase, we are reducing the number of dossiers to delve deeper into each photographer’s world. We have selected five key figures whose work has significantly influenced contemporary photography. From Cindy Sherman’s exploration of identity and performativity to the staged photography of Jeff Wall and Gregory Crewdson; from Thomas Ruff’s thematic variety and construction of photographic typologies to Hiroshi Sugimoto’s rigor, testing the boundaries between reality and fiction.
The issue concludes with the Portfolio section, which, apart from the main theme, showcases the work of emerging photographers or those establishing their careers on the international scene. This edition features the works of Alejandra Carles-Tolrá (Spain), Francesca Catastini (Italy), Natalia Kepesz (Poland), Marisol Méndez (Bolivia), and Charlie Tallott (United Kingdom).
