ElSordo Ediciones is an independent publishing label, a self-publishing project for Artist Books and Fanzines, illustrated albums, and editions covering a variety of themes across disciplines such as visual arts (drawing, painting, illustration, etc.), comics, poetry, and History. We also offer limited editions of serial Graphic Works, prints, and original art for sale.
Viejo Madrid: Dibujos de un Madrid desaparecido, de gentes y casas que ya no existen, y que para el autor conforman una memoria soñada y ficticia de la ciudad durante su infancia, cuando recorría aquellos rincones en los años 1980s y aún eran visibles los últimos vestigios de un Viejo Madrid que ya solo podía ser imaginado: las vías del tranvía a punto de quedar ocultas bajo el asfalto, las oscuras carbonerías de la Cava Baja cercanas al cierre, fachadas sucias por la contaminación que ensombrecían las calles, paredes cenicientas y ajadas, con su áspero granito y sus ladrillos jaboneros, los tejares artesanos, la pizarra de los chapiteles, los balcones castellanos, las misteriosas buhardillas…
«Viejo Madrid: Dibujos de un Madrid desaparecido», of people and houses that no longer exist, and which for the author form a dreamed and fictional memory of the city as it was in his childhood — when, wandering through those corners in the 1980s, he could still glimpse the last traces of an Old Madrid that could now only be imagined: the tram tracks about to be buried under asphalt, the dark coal shops of the Cava Baja nearing closure, the façades blackened by pollution that dimmed the streets, the ashen, timeworn walls of rough granite and soapy brick, the handmade roof tiles, the slate spires, the Castilian balconies, the mysterious attics…
