Artistas gemelas mujeres madres, en este orden, es la definición de Art al Quadrat en estos momentos y en cada uno de estos estadios, hay una lucha y una posición política frente a lo establecido. Por ello realizan en paralelo a su obra artística autopublicaciones, fotolibros y libro-objetos.
Female twin artists, mothers—in this order—is the definition of Art al Quadrat at present, and at each of these stages there is a struggle and a political stance against the established order. For this reason, alongside their artistic work, they produce self-published works, photobooks, and artist books.
YO SOY. ACCIONES PARA SANAR LA MEMORIA DE LAS MUJERES RAPADAS DEL FRANQUISMO es un fotolibro artístico basado en hechos reales sobre las mujeres que fueron represaliadas durante el franquismo con el rapado de cabello, entre otros castigos, como las humillaciones, violaciones o incluso el fusilamiento.
El motivo principal por el que estas mujeres fueron represaliadas fue su libertad de decisión que se escapaba del modelo tradicional que se supone estas mujeres tenían que cumplir.
Pese a parecer anecdótico, el rapado de cabello no fue un hecho aislado sino que fue sistémico en toda España.
Esta revisión de los hechos se realiza desde un punto de vista artístico donde sus autoras, Art al Quadrat, realizan acciones simbólicas con las que pretenden crear una nueva manera de recordarlas y dignificar su memoria.
El fotolibro, que simula ser un álbum antiguo, recoge las fotografías del proyecto del mismo nombre YO SOY. Incluye los apartados: Por ser libres, Castigos, Acción YO SOY. Homenaje a las mujeres rapadas del franquismo, Restitución y Epílogo.
«YO SOY. ACCIONES PARA SANAR LA MEMORIA DE LAS MUJERES RAPADAS DEL FRANQUISMO» is an artist photobook based on real events about women who were persecuted under Franco’s regime, subjected to hair shaving among other punishments, such as humiliation, sexual assault, or even execution.
The main reason these women were targeted was their freedom of choice, which defied the traditional role they were expected to follow.
Although it may seem anecdotal, hair shaving was not an isolated act but a systemic practice throughout Spain.
This artistic reinterpretation of the events is carried out by the authors, Art al Quadrat, through symbolic actions aimed at creating a new way to remember these women and honor their memory.
The photobook, designed to resemble an old album, collects the photographs from the project of the same name, «YO SOY». It includes sections titled: «Por ser libres», «Castigos», «Acción YO SOY. Homenaje a las mujeres rapadas del franquismo», «Restitución y Epílogo».
