Esta ambiciosa monografía presenta un centenar de pinturas y dibujos, así como textos y fotografías de la artista que recorren toda su trayectoria: desde el nuevo realismo de sus primeros años hasta las configuraciones geométricas y fantásticas de sus últimas obras. La publicación hace hincapié en cómo lo popular, lo performativo y lo mágico impregnaron sus primeras obras, destacando sus vínculos con el teatro. También examina las transformaciones que sufrió su obra a raíz de la Guerra Civil española y su exilio a Buenos Aires, donde sus retratos y bodegones transmiten metafóricamente el impacto del entorno y la cultura de su país de acogida.
Mallo fue una artista visionaria, que logró reflejar las preocupaciones de su época y anticiparse a muchas de las nuestras. Los ejes fundamentales de su obra son la universalidad de las aspiraciones humanas, más allá de diferencias económicas, raciales o de género; la consideración del mundo como un sistema ecológico interrelacionado que debe ser preservado y el poder del arte para revelar aspectos desconocidos de la realidad.

This ambitious monograph presents a hundred paintings and drawings, as well as texts and photographs by the artist that trace her entire career: from the new realism of her early years to the geometric and fantastical configurations of her later works. The publication emphasizes how the popular, the performative, and the magical infused her early creations, highlighting her connections with the theatre. It also examines the transformations her work underwent as a result of the Spanish Civil War and her exile to Buenos Aires, where her portraits and still lifes metaphorically convey the impact of the environment and culture of her host country.
Mallo was a visionary artist who managed to reflect the concerns of her time and anticipate many of our own. The fundamental pillars of her work are the universality of human aspirations, beyond economic, racial, or gender differences; the consideration of the world as an interconnected ecological system that must be preserved; and the power of art to reveal unknown aspects of reality.
