JESÚS TE SALVARÁ
Jesús hace mucho tiempo, justo el doble, que cumplió los 33. Es predicador evangelista, pero no es de Nazaret. Es natural de Villarubia de Santiago, provincia de Toledo, y lleva más de 20 años rescatando cotorras argentinas del madrileño Parque de Berlín. Vive en la portería que defiende desde hace 17 años y lo hace rodeado de 20 pájaros en su interior: Milagros, Pepita, Coco, Paco, Sancho, Rebeca, Pipo, Chispa, Pepe, Chicho… Todas han sido rescatadas por él y cada una tiene su historia. Las reconoce a todas sin apenas pestañear.
Jesús El Salvador. Con mono azul, móvil en el bolsillo del pecho de la camisa y tanto las gafas como sus cotorras colgadas todo el día del uniforme de trabajo entre trajín y trajín.
Algo anacrónico. Adaptación al medio y empatía. Capacidades exóticas. Jesús y sus cotorras, especies invasoras.
«JESÚS TE SALVARÁ»
Jesus turned 33 a long time ago—exactly twice that, in fact. He’s an evangelical preacher, but he’s not from Nazareth. He’s from Villarubia de Santiago, in the province of Toledo, and for more than 20 years he’s been rescuing monk parakeets from Madrid’s Parque de Berlín.
He lives in the building’s porter’s lodge, which he’s been guarding for 17 years, surrounded inside by 20 birds: Milagros, Pepita, Coco, Paco, Sancho, Rebeca, Pipo, Chispa, Pepe, Chicho… All of them were rescued by him, and each one has its own story. He can recognize them all without blinking an eye.
Jesus the Savior. Wearing a blue coverall, with his phone tucked into his chest pocket and both his glasses and his parrots hanging all day from his work uniform as he moves back and forth.
Something anachronistic. Adaptation to the environment and empathy. Exotic abilities. Jesus and his parrots—two invasive species.
